Laland Baptiste has been selected to provide mentor services as part of Dormitory Authority of the State of New York’s (DASNY) Mentor Protégé program.

The goal: to strengthen the technical capacity of emerging small businesses and certified M/WBEs (Protégés) and helping them successfully compete for DASNY opportunities.

As a mentor, Laland Baptiste will provide guidance for general business management, financial management, and all aspects of construction management. Construction management from pre-construction to project close-out mentoring may include financials, contract provisions, bidding and subcontracting work, scheduling, materials, safety and quality planning, interactions with architects, engineers and DASNY staff, among more specific tasks. The program also offers mentors a chance to build a network of dependable subcontractors.

Laland Baptiste has served as a mentor for two other public entities for nearly 10 years:

  • Since 2016, Laland Baptiste has served as Construction Managers mentoring contractors within the NYC School Construction Authority Mentor Program. We have worked on over 150 individual projects, mentoring MWSBEs by overseeing and coordinating superintendents, project managers, office engineers, accounting work, and a host of other tasks. These projects have ranged from the building of new classrooms, gymnasiums, auditoriums, interior and millwork, new doors, new lighting and ceiling grid systems, HVAC and ductwork, playground and athletic field construction, and many other school improvement projects.
  • Since 2021, as the lead Construction Manager, we have mentored and provided Construction Management services to local contractors enrolled in the New York City Department of Design and Construction Mentoring Program. Our projects have included structural improvements, façade restoration and window replacement, electrical and HVAC restoration, generator and boiler replacement, sidewalk improvements, and restorations of various complexes.
