Roberto Clemente State Park Bulkhead Replacement

Under contract to the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP), Laland Baptiste provided construction management services for the Roberto Clemente State Park Bulkhead Replacement Project in the Bronx, New York. The OPRHP proposed improvements within an approximately 16-acre portion of Roberto Clemente State Park, which is located on the eastern shore of the Harlem River in the Bronx, New York.
The park features a wide array of facilities including:
- A multi-purpose recreation building
- Swimming pools including an outdoor Olympic-size swimming pool
- Ball fields
- Basketball courts
- Playgrounds
- Picnic areas
- A waterfront esplanade
The work included:
- Replacement of the existing sheet pile bulkhead
- Reconstruction of the adjacent esplanade
- Creation of a tidal/intertidal habitat from uplands as part of the bulkhead replacement
- Enhancements to improve it as a public gathering space
- Repair of the south stair entrance
As construction manager, Laland Baptiste prepared meeting agendas and minutes, budgets, daily inspector reports, and monthly progress reports.
