Hurricane Sandy Restoration – Parkwide
Hurricane Sandy Restoration – Parkwide
Client: Hudson River Park Trust
In the aftermath of devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy, Laland Baptiste’s Senior Project Manager provided design/build services to the Hudson River Park Trust for a parkwide restoration project. We assembled and managed a wide-ranging team of engineers and construction managers to undertake the reconstruction of the electrical and mechanical infrastructure throughout the 5-mile-long park, Pier 40 (20-acre footprint), and nine park buildings. All the critical equipment was elevated and otherwise protected to mitigate future flood damage.
The design/build work included:
- Damage assessment
- Scope of work development
- Prioritization
- Engineering
- Bidding
- Contracting
- Permitting
- Construction supervision and commissioning of projects elements
- Primary and distribution wiring
- Lighting throughout the park
- Electrical panels, switch gear and HVAC equipment in nine park buildings
- Pier 40 electrical substation (6,000 amps)
- Pier 40 Fire suppression pumps, controls, and fire alarm.
