Laland Baptiste Awarded 2020 CMAA Metro Chapter Project of the Year
Congratulations to Laland Baptiste for being awarded 2020 CMAA Metro Chapter Project of the Year for the Yonkers Waterfront Streetlight Replacements Project. As CO-Winner for MWBE-Managed projects we are very proud of our Team. In the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy many waterfront properties received flooding that caused damage and corrosion of conduits, panels, and electrical components. Our team provided construction management services to the City of Yonkers for the rehabilitation of streetlights and related infrastructure along the Hudson River waterfront.

Laland Baptiste Appoints Paul Ersboll as Vice President
Melville, NY, April 15, 2021 – Construction Management and Consulting company, Laland Baptiste announced today that Paul Ersboll has been promoted to the role of Vice President. Laland Baptiste provides Construction and Program Management Services throughout the construction life cycle. In his tenure with Laland Baptiste, Mr. Ersboll has played a key role in the company as a Senior Project Manager. He is skilled at managing multi-site programs and has personally led numerous multi-prime Wicks Law projects. Prior to joining Laland Baptiste, Mr. Ersboll spent 17 years at New York City Parks & Recreation – Capital Projects Division. As Chief of Design, he designed and built more than $3 billion worth of capital projects. Mr. Ersboll has worked with numerous New York public agencies including NYC Department of Design & Construction, NYC Economic Development Corporation, Hudson River Park Trust, and the Battery Park City Authority. Robert Baptiste – CMAA Panel Discussion
Laland Baptiste and Baptiste Engineering’s Robert Baptiste, CCM, DBIA and CMAA’s director of C.O.D.E (Creating Opportunities for Diversity and Equality) helped arrange and moderate the CMAA Metro NY/NJ panel discussion. During this event, relevant topics were discussed, such as barriers that women and minorities encounter in the AEC industry; changes in the next 5-10 years that will affect the way AEC firms operate and how minorities can prepare for this shift; constructive changes and actions of leadership that can foster an inclusive, inviting, and productive environment; and how we can design, build and manage a better AEC industry as we witness changes occurring across the globe in: social injustice, pay inequalities and healthcare.

Member Birdhouse Workshop
Here is a look at some birdhouses created by our team of professionals. Each employee received a ready to build birdhouse with all materials. A hammer was required! The only rule was to be creative. The winner received a gift card and the opportunity to choose the next activity.

JFK Panel Talk
Laland Baptiste and Baptiste Engineering were honored to co-sponsor the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) Code and Professional Women in Construction (PWC) JFK Panel Talk on Tuesday, January 28th. Meet us on the Ice Event
On December 7th, we hosted our first “Meet us on the Ice” event at the Polar Lounge at Bryant Park. It was a great evening in NYC. There was plenty of laughter, skating, hot chocolate and cookies, making for a great night on the ice! See you next year.

“On October 23rd, Professional Women in Construction New York (PWC) held its Annual Member Meeting at Teknion Showroom. This meeting is held annually to update members, to network, and for members to enroll in the organizations committees. Leading up to the meeting, PWC held an election to bring on four new Board of Directors, who were announced at that event.”

Inspiring Black Engineers
Hofstra’s chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), the professional engineering fraternity Theta Tau, and the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) – recently hosted the 2nd annual Black Engineers Panel to support the aspirations of students of color interested in pursuing careers in engineering. CEO Schillivia Baptiste was honored to attend this event.

Being a panelist for the Black Engineers panel at Hofstra University was such an amazing experience for Schillivia Baptiste! She got to share the importance of the industry with an audience ranging from middle schoolers to college students, and their parents and advisors. The Q&A session after the panel discussion reinforced the bright future for the Engineering Industry.
Not only was it an inspiration and privilege to participate in such a great forum, but Schillivia also received a very special thank you for providing her insight as an engineer!

On January 31, 2019 Laland Baptiste had the privilege of being one of the sponsors for the Working Together to Advance Opportunities for M/WBEs in the New York Construction Market breakfast. Organized by our very own, Robert Baptiste, the CMAA Metro New York/New Jersey Director of CODE, this event promoted increasing the use of M/WBE’s in the Construction Management profession. Attendees heard from several agencies including the New York City Department of Design and Construction (NYCDDC), The Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY), New York City Department of Parks & Recreation, and The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ).
During the event, attendees also heard from two featured MWBE firms, Mildred Tolentino of M-TO-PROS and Eric Hirani of Infinite Consulting Corp. regarding the services they provide to the AEC Industry.
